Languages other than English

Casey-Cardinia Library Corporation (CCLC) provides collections to meet the library needs of an increasingly diverse community. Statewide standards and criteria have been established to determine how collections of Languages other than English (LOTE) resources are created and maintained, depending on both population levels and collection usage.

These criteria have been used to establish LOTE collections in Chinese, Italian, Persian and Sinhalese at CCLC with books, dvds, cds and magazines available in each language.

CCLC also provides magazines in other languages as listed below. A English Language Support collection is also available.

Library users seeking titles in other languages may be able to do so through a search of the library catalogue, as other library services hold titles in other languages.

Newspapers and the current issues of magazine titles can only be read at the owning library. All other issues can be put on hold, to be collected at any of CCLC's libraries.

You can also search Multicultural Libraries at PLVN for resources in other languages and to discover which libraries hold which languages in their collection.

LOTE Magazines/Newspapers

    English Language Support

The English Language Support collection has books, kits, DVDs and audio titles to assist with adult literacy development and English as a Second Language needs. These titles are available in all branches, at various reader levels and formats.

All these titles can be accessed through the library catalogue and delivered to the library of your choice via a hold. There is no charge for this service.

We have a good collection of IELTS texts for borrowing.  You can also learn the IELTS via our free online service Road to IELTS - you just need your library card number to login!
